Winemakers: Got a Challenging Wine?

This isn’t my typical blog, but perhaps a relevant opportunity for some readers.  Recently we’ve had several inquiries by customers and winery owners about similar blending challenges.  Either, they have a wine that has been successful in the past, but last year’s grapes aren’t producing the same results OR they have a wine with a problem and don’t know what to do with it.  Since this has been a recurring topic, we got to thinking this may be an issue for others as well.  So, we’re designing a program to help you address these issues or to help you in creating a premier wine blend.

You made a great blend last year that was very successful and you want a similar blend, but are having challenges.

1. You provide the original blending  plan, a sample of the original finished wine and a sample of the new wine that didn’t work.
2. We will blend a wine that is very similar to the original blend.  Although it will not be the “same”, it will be similar.  (See my blog:  Similar, but not the Same)
3. We will furnish you with a sample of the new version of the wine for your review and discerning taste.
4. If you like it, we’ll provide you with the new blending plan.

You want to create a new blend from scratch and you may even have a problem with the wine.

1. You tell us any components that you want to use in the blend.  Point to similar style wines that you would like to approach so we have a direction to go in.  Let us know any adjustments you’ve made to the wine.
2. Because we are creating from scratch, it may take 2-3 iterations to get what you want, but we’re in the game!
3. If you like it, we’ll furnish you with the protocol and blending plan.

Because we’re getting these inquiries now, rather than wait until we have the package completely defined and organized, we have decided to try a beta program following the system we have built.
